Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
1. Who We Are and Scope of This Policy
Carrierintel ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website located at carrierintel.ai (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, process, and disclose information from and about visitors and users of our Service.
Please note that the primary purpose of our Service is to aggregate and analyze public regulatory information regarding commercial motor carriers, which is published by the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and related public safety databases. This policy applies to personal data collected directly through your interaction with our website, and explains our practices regarding the public records we process.
2. Information We Process
We process information through several distinct pathways, depending on how you interact with the Service:
A. Public Regulatory and Carrier Data
The core of our platform consists of safety, inspection, registration, authority, and safety performance records of commercial motor carriers.
- Source: Sourced entirely from public government databases, primarily the FMCSA SAFER system, Socrata open-data endpoints, and the MCMIS (Motor Carrier Management Information System) archives.
- Public Nature: This records database contains business entities, DOT numbers, business addresses, vehicle counts, inspection history, crash records, and dynamic VIN tracking. This data is public by statutory mandate (49 U.S.C. § 504 and § 508) and is not subject to the same privacy restrictions as private consumer data.
- Exclusions: We strictly filter out sensitive personal identifiers (such as driver social security numbers or private personal financial information) that are not part of the public regulatory record.
B. Information You Actively Provide to Us
- Contact and Communications: If you send us inquiries via email, fill out contact forms, or request custom data reports, we collect your email address, full name, company name (if applicable), and any text or attachments you choose to transmit.
- User Account Details: If you register an account, subscribe to our premium intelligence tiers, or configure notifications, we collect your username, email, password, and billing information (which is processed securely via our third-party merchant gateway).
C. Automated Technical Logs and Telemetry
When you navigate our website, our servers automatically collect telemetry and network diagnostic metadata:
- Device Metadata: Browser type, operating system version, screen resolution, local language settings.
- Network Metadata: IP address, Internet Service Provider (ISP), approximate geographic region (country/city level derived from IP).
- Usage and Interaction Patterns: Pages visited, links clicked, search queries, session duration, referrers (the webpage that brought you to us), and standard server-side performance logs.
3. Legal Basis and Purposes of Processing
We use and process the data described above for the following explicit business and legal purposes:
- Operating the Analytics Platform: To synthesize unstructured public safety records into intelligible, searchable carrier profiles, phantom-fleet ratings, and high-fidelity statistical indicators.
- Security and System Integrity: To monitor system traffic, prevent unauthorized automated scraping/DDoS attacks, detect security incidents, and defend against fraudulent or abusive behaviors.
- Customer Relations & Communication: To answer support inquiries, distribute technical newsletters or regulatory analysis updates, and notify you of system status updates.
- Legitimate Interests: To research and document systematic patterns of commercial vehicle safety registrations, vehicle-identification-number discrepancies, and regulatory arbitrage in the transportation industry, helping to improve safety awareness and public sector transparency.
4. Cookies, Web Beacons, and Local Storage
We employ cookies, local storage objects, and similar web tracking files to optimize page load speeds, remember user preferences, and authenticate user accounts.
Strictly Necessary: Session cookies and state tokens that keep you logged in or remember search filters between page reloads. The Service cannot function properly without these.
Analytical/Performance: We may use localized, privacy-focused web analytics tools to understand general user traffic without building granular cross-site behavioral profiles. We do not use third-party behavioral retargeting trackers or sale-oriented tracking pixels. You can disable cookies directly in your web browser, though some interactive elements of the Service may become unavailable.
5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Subprocessors
We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your personal user information. We only disclose your data to trusted third-party subprocessors under strict contractual bounds, or when legally compelled:
- Infrastructure Providers: Our hosting providers, serverless execution nodes, and secure database hosting services (primarily Lovable Cloud, Supabase, and Cloudflare) that power our operational systems.
- Payment Processors: Standard secure billing gateways. Credit card numbers and payment data never pass through or touch our own servers.
- Legal Mandates and Public Safety: We may disclose information if we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a subpoena, court order, or applicable law, or to protect the vital security of any individual.
6. Data Retention Policies
We adhere to strict data minimization principles:
- Technical logs: Raw server access logs, IP traffic diagnostics, and security monitors are automatically deleted or anonymized within 90 days.
- Account data: Retained for as long as your subscription or user account remains active, and deleted within 30 days of an account closure request.
- Public Records: Historic public inspection logs and regulatory vehicle listings are retained indefinitely to sustain our public-interest research, carrier-risk trends, and fleet analytics dashboards.
7. International Data Transfers
Carrierintel is based in the United States. Technical logs, account information, and carrier analyses are hosted and processed on servers located primarily in the United States. If you access our platform from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with laws governing data collection and use, your connection is routed through international pipelines, and your personal data will be transferred to the United States. By using our website and submitting your data, you consent to this transfer.
8. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may possess specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Right of Access and Portability: You may request a breakdown of the personal user data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification or Deletion: You may request that we update incorrect contact data, or entirely purge your user profile.
- Right to Restrict or Object: You may object to the processing of your user account metadata for marketing or research purposes.
Important Caveat regarding Public Carrier Records: Because carrier registration, safety ratings, violations, and vehicle safety logs are public record documents managed by the federal government under interstate commerce laws, we do not edit, erase, or alter public FMCSA data upon request. If you are a motor carrier representative seeking to correct, appeal, or dispute safety records (e.g., an incorrect VIN, crash record, or inspection list), you must file a formal petition through the FMCSA's authoritative DataQs system at dataqs.fmcsa.dot.gov. Once the FMCSA processes your DataQ appeal and updates their public datasets, our automated integration pipelines will capture and reflect those changes.
To exercise your rights regarding user-specific data, contact our privacy compliance desk atinfo@carrierintel.ai.
9. Information Security
We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and electronic security safeguards designed to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. All web traffic to carrierintel.ai is encrypted over Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Database resources are guarded behind VPC controls, role-level security (RLS) layers, and strict access controls. No system can be 100% secure, and we cannot warrant the absolute safety of information transmitted over the open internet.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is intended strictly for professional, business, and educational audiences in the logistics, finance, and compliance fields. We do not design or direct our platform to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect or harvest personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify or replace this Privacy Policy at our discretion to reflect technical upgrades, regulatory changes, or legal updates. Any changes will be indicated by revising the "Last updated" date displayed at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service following any update constitutes your acceptance of the modified Privacy Policy.
